Are you looking for a night out with friends? Is your inner DIY itching for a fun new project without having to buy all your own supplies and make a mess at your house? Then BOOK A WORKSHOP for the ultimate paint and sip experience at Board & Brush Creative Studio in State College.
State College, PA is a beautiful community located in central Pennsylvania. It's home to Penn State University, which provides the area with many opportunities. Visitors come to town for sporting events, especially for PSU football Saturdays at Beaver Stadium and hockey games at Pegula Ice Arena. No visit is complete without a stop to the Penn State Berkey Creamery for some ice cream! Families come to visit their students and alumni can always be found around town. State College is also home to the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, which is held every summer. Artisans come from all over the country to sell their unique goods. At the same time of year, Pennsylvania artisans showcase their handmade items at the People's Choice Festival in Boalsburg. We're lucky to have an active and artistic community that supports local businesses. The area is referred to as Happy Valley, and these are just some of the reasons why!

SIP & PAINT AT OUR WOOD SIGN WORKSHOPS
At Board & Brush in State College, we marry the joy of wine and paint with the classic timelessness of wooden signs. Our instructor-led DIY wood sign workshops allow you to combine your creativity and willingness to learn new skills. We provide you with the instruction, materials and design for you to distress, sand, stain, paint, and customize your personalized piece of art!
HOW IT WORKS
1. REGISTER FOR A WORKSHOP
View our calendar above to find a date and time that works best for you and your friends and family (the more, the merrier!). You can also look for a workshop that features the type of project you’d like to create, like a PYP or specialty project. Then, you’ll browse our gallery of hundreds of designs to choose which one you’d like to create in your upcoming workshop!
2. ARRIVE EARLY!
Our workshops start on time, so you’ll want to arrive early to get settled! You can start thinking about the endless creative possibilities ahead, take photos with friends, and enjoy your favorite beverage (some studios are BYOB, while others sell alcohol, please check with your local studio about their policies).
3. GET YOUR DIY ON!
At your paint and sip workshop, you’ll turn raw wood into a finished project fit for your home! You’ll be guided by our expert instructors throughout each step in the workshop - sanding, distressing, staining, painting your stencil, and waxing! You choose all your colors in person at the workshop! Our workshops are typically about 3 hours long.
4. DISPLAY YOUR NEW DÉCOR
When you leave our workshops, you’ll leave with a wood project that you’ll be proud to display in your home! We mean it when we say that no experience is necessary - our instructors are there to help turn you into a DIY expert. Now that your beautiful farmhouse-inspired project is complete, you’ll take it home to find the perfect spot to display it!

Meet Board & Brush State College Owner
Jackie Borst
Jackie Borst has been a physician assistant since 2006 and now teaches in the PA Program at Commonwealth University – Lock Haven. Her background in medicine, education, and service has shaped her into someone who communicates well, stays organized, and genuinely enjoys helping others…qualities she believes will serve her well as a Board & Brush studio owner! Jackie chose to become a Board & Brush owner because the studio became a kind of therapy for her over the years. The creative projects offered stress relief, a break from the fast pace of her career, and a much-needed outlet for creativity. Wanting others to experience that same sense of calm and joy, she decided to bring a studio to her community.
Jackie has been married since 2012 and has two adult children. She's also a proud animal lover with two dogs and several cats at home! Whether working as a PA, teaching future clinicians, or creating in the workshop, she loves using her skills and experiences to serve and connect with others.

Board & Brush State College is located in the Ferguson Square along W. College Ave., easily accessed from any part of town and has plenty of parking. Public transportation is also an option with a CATA bus stop nearby.
