At Board & Brush, you know we believe in finding any reason to gather with friends and celebrate. So, when we heard that “Summerween” was trending, we just had to host our very own event!

What exactly is Summerween, you ask? Well, it’s quite literally the celebration of Halloween in the summertime! It’s taking the summertime events you know and love – like backyard BBQs, picnics, or pool days – and combining them with Halloween-themed décor, treats, and music!

If you’re feeling inspired (and perhaps a little bit spooky), or you’re just looking for an event to celebrate with your besties…keep reading for our favorite tricks to hosting the ultimate Summerween event.

When it comes to Summerween, there are no color palette rules! Feel free to toss out the traditional black & orange Halloween colors and instead opt for fun pinks, oranges, and yellows! Here’s where you can really let your creativity shine…all the DIY decisions are up to YOU!

Summerween Prep. You’ve got your new Halloween décor and the date has been set – now what? It’s time to start thinking of the treats + drinks you’ll need to serve at your Summerween event.

Here are some of our favorites to go along with the Halloween theme:

Watermelon carved into the shape of a jack-o-lantern
Pizza with cheese slices in the shapes of pumpkins (cheddar cheese) and ghosts (mozzarella cheese)
Candy corn & chocolate Halloween candy
Orange Crush soda
Orange Doritos
Cookies in the shape of pumpkins (you can use a cookie cutter for this!)
