Frequently Asked Questions

If you don’t see the answer to your question below, please contact your local studio.

Are there any risks involved with your woodworking workshops?

Drills, hammers, mallets, nails, sand paper, paint and oil based stains are used during a workshop, so precautions need to be taken.  If you have a condition that will increase your likeliness of experiencing injuries or breathing issues, please ask us ahead of time if this is right for you. We also recommend you wear clothing that is not special to you.  Please do not wear your designer jeans, Ugg boots or anything of value since we are dealing with products that can damage or stain the material.  Stain, paint, saw dust and wax are always being passed around in a workshop environment, so choose wisely in your clothing selection!!

Do you offer refunds?

Due to the custom nature of our Studio workshops, registration fees are non-refundable. Registration cancellations made at least 72 hours in advance of a workshop will be granted a credit for a future workshop. Please click here to review our policies for more details.

Do I have to pick my project ahead of time?

All of our workshops require pre-registration so that we can have adequate time to prep and customize your material.  Project selection and customization information for your project is required at the time of booking. Please be sure to double-check your spelling and information to ensure your project stencil and materials will be ready for you at the start of the workshop.

Can I bring a guest to help me with my project or just watch the workshop?

No, our workshops are priced based on the time of instruction. Each participant receiving the instruction must be registered with a project of their own and follow the steps of the workshop. Our studios are also laid out for hands-on participation. There are no seats set aside for observation, and extra materials may not be available. During the checkout process, all participants are required to read and acknowledge our policies. Unregistered guests cannot be accommodated and will be asked to leave or, if a seat and materials are available, register and pay for the workshop prior to the beginning of instruction.

How do I make sure I am seated with my friends — are these requests guaranteed?

If you are coming with a group of friends, please list the first and last name for whom you would like to be seated next to when personalizing your project in the ‘I would like to sit by…’ question. We certainly do our best when arranging where each guest will be seated! However, there are MANY variables that go into our seating arrangements making it difficult to guarantee specific placement. Sadly, on occasion, honoring a specific request isn’t always possible.

Can I bring my own wine?

Each of our Studios are regulated by different liquor rules and regulations, so some Studios sell alcoholic beverages, some are BYOB establishments, and others offer educational wine segments. Please contact your local Studio to determine what options are available to you.

What does the $ icon on certain projects in the gallery mean?

We offer over 400+ projects that are included as options to choose from for your Pick Your Project workshop at no additional cost. However, due to national labor and material price increases, projects with this icon include a minimal surcharge. This allows us to continue to offer these premium projects in a Pick Your Project workshop.

Can I bring my own snacks or food?

Each of our Studios are regulated by different health inspection rules and regulations, so some Studios allow snacks and food to be brought in and some offer food for sale. Please contact your local Studio to determine what options are available to you.

Do I need to be crafty to take a Workshop?

No way!  Our workshops provide guided instruction in a relaxed environment.  Just bring your creativity and a willingness to learn and you will build a wooden décor piece from scratch that is worthy of your walls!

How long does a Workshop last?

We allow 3 hours for fun and creativity, however sometimes our workshops are finished prior to that time and sometimes when our guests are chatty we take a wee bit longer!

Do I need to tell you in advance what colors and stain I want to use?

No!  When you arrive we will show you examples of different stains and color palettes to help you decide what paints and stains will look the best in your home.  We have a wide variety of stain choices, paint colors and painting techniques to satisfy everyone’s eye for design!

Is there an age requirement to attend a Board & Brush workshop?

Yes. Due to the tools used, the stain, and our liquor license, infants and children under the age of 16 are not permitted in any of our Studios while a workshop is being held. If a participant brings an infant or child, they will be asked to rebook for a different workshop when they can attend ‘child’ free and enjoy the experience fully.

For children under the age of 16, we do offer the ability to book private children or teens parties! Contact your local studio for more information

Can you purchase premade projects?

Yes!  Our Board & Brush Creative Studio Shop Local online storefront allows you to purchase premade wood projects as well as Bb @HOME KIT designs. Find a studio near you here. Each studio will provide available pickup time options for retail items in their shop.

Do you use environmentally safe products?

Most Board and Brush Creative Studios use environmentally friendly low VOC stains. Our designer paints are odor free water based products. We believe in providing industry proven materials that impact the earth as little as possible.

Do you allow custom design requests?

With so many signs to choose from in our gallery, we are confident that you will be able to find a sign that is right for you and your home. We understand that occasionally there are additional needs or desires.

Simple changes or substitutions of words within our standard designs can generally be made with no additional charges.

Does my finished sign need to look just like the photo on your gallery?

No! One of the great things about our workshops is your ability to customize your project right down to the stain and paint colors.

Why don’t the project dimensions on the website match the actual size of my project?

Our project dimensions may not add up to actual sizes because they are labeled using industry-standard nominal wood sizing. Nominal measurements are based on a board’s size before it has been dried and planed smooth (surfaced) on all four sides. Nominal-size lumber has a given name, but this is only a nickname for the width of the board. The actual measurements are the final dried and surfaced size. For example, the nominal size standard is 1x4x24 inches, but the actual size of the board is closer to .75×3.5×24 inches. Since we are unable to capture the unique sizing of each piece of wood while listing them in our gallery, we rely on the nominal sizing to provide you with the best idea of the dimensions of the project you’ll create.

We hope you love our creative studio and our custom designs!.
