Grand Blanc, MI is located about an hour north of Detroit and minutes south of Flint off of I-75. Grand Blanc is a diverse community that rallies behind their large local high school, yearly Back-to-the Bricks collectible car event, the PGA Allied Challenge at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club, and deep automotive history. The Grand Blanc Farmers Market, Grand Chalet Shoppes, Little Joe\'s Bar & Grill, Italia Gardens, Colony Market, The Hot Dog Stand, Ziggy\'s Ice Cream, and Physicians Park are all within walking distance. Liz and Joe are extremely honored and excited to bring their Board & Brush Creative Studio to the city of Grand Blanc.

Beer and wine are available for purchase in the studio.

SIP & PAINT AT OUR WOOD SIGN WORKSHOPS
At Board & Brush in Grand Blanc, we marry the joy of wine and paint with the classic timelessness of wooden signs. Our instructor-led DIY wood sign workshops allow you to combine your creativity and willingness to learn new skills. We provide you with the instruction, materials and design for you to distress, sand, stain, paint, and customize your personalized piece of art!
HOW IT WORKS
1. REGISTER FOR A WORKSHOP
View our calendar above to find a date and time that works best for you and your friends and family (the more, the merrier!). You can also look for a workshop that features the type of project you’d like to create, like a PYP or specialty project. Then, you’ll browse our gallery of hundreds of designs to choose which one you’d like to create in your upcoming workshop!
2. ARRIVE EARLY!
Our workshops start on time, so you’ll want to arrive early to get settled! You can start thinking about the endless creative possibilities ahead, take photos with friends, and enjoy your favorite beverage (some studios are BYOB, while others sell alcohol, please check with your local studio about their policies).
3. GET YOUR DIY ON!
At your paint and sip workshop, you’ll turn raw wood into a finished project fit for your home! You’ll be guided by our expert instructors throughout each step in the workshop - sanding, distressing, staining, painting your stencil, and waxing! You choose all your colors in person at the workshop! Our workshops are typically about 3 hours long.
4. DISPLAY YOUR NEW DÉCOR
When you leave our workshops, you’ll leave with a wood project that you’ll be proud to display in your home! We mean it when we say that no experience is necessary - our instructors are there to help turn you into a DIY expert. Now that your beautiful farmhouse-inspired project is complete, you’ll take it home to find the perfect spot to display it!

Meet Board & Brush Grand Blanc Owners
Joe & Liz DeGain
Liz and Joe DeGain have known each other since 6th grade and have been together as a couple the majority of their lives. They have always been educators/instructors at the core; they love helping and connecting with people. They both have teaching degrees from Oakland University and the University of Michigan respectively, with masters degrees in Curriculum and Instruction. After nearly 24 years of combined experience in public education, the pair continued their teaching in the CrossFit realm around the US, internationally, and in their hometown of Grand Blanc, Michigan at their gym, 810 CrossFit.
Joe is still traveling, teaching, and coaching full-time while Liz has mainly remained local for the last year and a half. Although Liz still loves teaching CrossFit, she was at a point in her life where a new adventure made sense for herself, her family, and her community. The perfect new adventure for Liz was taking on a Board & Brush franchise in their town of Grand Blanc! Her love of the brand was sparked by the DeGain's brother and sister-in-law, Pat and Nicole DeGain, after watching them open their Board & Brush Creative Studio in Bloomington, Indiana this past year. As crazy as 2020 has been, B&b GB feels meant to be. Liz loves the notion of DIY instruction for people of all ages, makes and creeds, in a fun, safe and entertaining atmosphere. Joe will be present on a lesser scale, but he has been nothing but amazingly supportive of Liz's new passion and commitment to Board & Brush Grand Blanc.
This is truly Liz's DIY happy place. The DeGains love that their 4 children, son-in-law, and 2 (almost 3) grandbabies are so supportive and excited for this B&b GB adventure. You might even see one or two of their teens assisting in a workshop. Their 3 dogs, 2 cats, 3 chickens, and bearded dragon might be a little jealous of how much time has been spent at the studio lately, but time with family, friends, and animals is still their favorite. In their downtime, Liz, Joe, and their family also love to workout, backpack, travel to Gulf Shores Alabama for family and beaches, play card games, garden, try local beverages, and support all things Michigan.....even the Detroit Lions.
