Hartford, WI is a growing city in southeast Wisconsin. Hartford's downtown vibe is that of any great small town, featuring several restaurants and coffee shops like the Perc Place and Scoop DeVille, plus gift and novelty shops like Faith & Giggles. The city is well known for the Mineshaft restaurant, which is perfect for Friday night fish fry, pizza nights, and an entire level of arcade space. Along the downtown area, the Mill Pond Park has been newly revived to feature a Mill Pond riverwalk, art installations, and fresh landscaping. The Hartford population has been booming, and businesses along Highway 60 have expanded to include several chain restaurants like Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, and Jersey Mikes. Follow Highway 60 out to Hartford's natural attractions at Pike Lake State to take advantage of trail hiking along the Ice Age Trail, fishing off the docks, or scaling the Powder Hill lookout.

SIP & PAINT AT OUR WOOD SIGN WORKSHOPS
At Board & Brush in Hartford, we marry the joy of wine and paint with the classic timelessness of wooden signs. Our instructor-led DIY wood sign workshops allow you to combine your creativity and willingness to learn new skills. We provide you with the instruction, materials and design for you to distress, sand, stain, paint, and customize your personalized piece of art!
HOW IT WORKS
1. REGISTER FOR A WORKSHOP
View our calendar above to find a date and time that works best for you and your friends and family (the more, the merrier!). You can also look for a workshop that features the type of project you’d like to create, like a PYP or specialty project. Then, you’ll browse our gallery of hundreds of designs to choose which one you’d like to create in your upcoming workshop!
2. ARRIVE EARLY!
Our workshops start on time, so you’ll want to arrive early to get settled! You can start thinking about the endless creative possibilities ahead, take photos with friends, and enjoy your favorite beverage (some studios are BYOB, while others sell alcohol, please check with your local studio about their policies).
3. GET YOUR DIY ON!
At your paint and sip workshop, you’ll turn raw wood into a finished project fit for your home! You’ll be guided by our expert instructors throughout each step in the workshop - sanding, distressing, staining, painting your stencil, and waxing! You choose all your colors in person at the workshop! Our workshops are typically about 3 hours long.
4. DISPLAY YOUR NEW DÉCOR
When you leave our workshops, you’ll leave with a wood project that you’ll be proud to display in your home! We mean it when we say that no experience is necessary - our instructors are there to help turn you into a DIY expert. Now that your beautiful farmhouse-inspired project is complete, you’ll take it home to find the perfect spot to display it!

Meet Board & Brush Hartford Owner
Allison Freitag
Allison comes from a family of artists and musicians, but most of her career has focused on her passion for healthcare, specifically Magnetic Resonance Imaging. After spending years in various positions at clinics, she settled at GE HealthCare, running the Global MR Training program. Over the years, Allison spent many days with her mom and sister finding creative outlets like scrapbooking, paper crafting, cooking, and interior decorating. Much of her passion is based not just on creativity but harnessing the joy of spending time together with her family! When she discovered Board & Brush, it was an experience that combined everything she was looking for - a creative outlet, the time to spend together, and better yet, the chance to learn something new! She is so excited to harness these experiences into a full-time job as a franchise owner.
Allie (as her friends and family call her) and her husband are "kind of" newlyweds after marrying in 2022. Her 3 sons, Andrew, Cody, and Brady are excited for the opportunity to experience the community of Hartford! Why start a business now? Because there really is no perfect time. Allie gave this opportunity to God, and he responded with a resounding "DO IT!"?

Board & Brush Hartford is located on Main Street and shares a building with Just Drive driving school and the Allstate Insurance Agency. Street parking available, and in the lot adjacent to the building.
