Monterey, CA is known as one of the best places to visit in California. With its picturesque beaches and small-town feel, there is always something fun to do. Historic Downtown Monterey is bustling with locals and visitors alike. The city is home to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, as well as plenty of gorgeous golf courses and local wineries. There is a multitude of great restaurants in Downtown Monterey like Alta Bakery & Cafe, Alvarado Street Brewery, Cibo, Montrio Bistro, Rosine's Restaurant, Old Monterey Cafe, Pacific Bowls & Rolls, Parker-Lusseau Pastries, Paris Bakery, and Revival Ice Cream. The Monterey Conference Center, Portola Hotel & Spa, and Monterey Marriott are within walking distance of the studio, so if you are coming to town for an event, check our calendar for a workshop to attend too!

Beer and wine are available for purchase in the studio.

SIP & PAINT AT OUR WOOD SIGN WORKSHOPS
At Board & Brush in Monterey, we marry the joy of wine and paint with the classic timelessness of wooden signs. Our instructor-led DIY wood sign workshops allow you to combine your creativity and willingness to learn new skills. We provide you with the instruction, materials and design for you to distress, sand, stain, paint, and customize your personalized piece of art!
HOW IT WORKS
1. REGISTER FOR A WORKSHOP
View our calendar above to find a date and time that works best for you and your friends and family (the more, the merrier!). You can also look for a workshop that features the type of project you’d like to create, like a PYP or specialty project. Then, you’ll browse our gallery of hundreds of designs to choose which one you’d like to create in your upcoming workshop!
2. ARRIVE EARLY!
Our workshops start on time, so you’ll want to arrive early to get settled! You can start thinking about the endless creative possibilities ahead, take photos with friends, and enjoy your favorite beverage (some studios are BYOB, while others sell alcohol, please check with your local studio about their policies).
3. GET YOUR DIY ON!
At your paint and sip workshop, you’ll turn raw wood into a finished project fit for your home! You’ll be guided by our expert instructors throughout each step in the workshop - sanding, distressing, staining, painting your stencil, and waxing! You choose all your colors in person at the workshop! Our workshops are typically about 3 hours long.
4. DISPLAY YOUR NEW DÉCOR
When you leave our workshops, you’ll leave with a wood project that you’ll be proud to display in your home! We mean it when we say that no experience is necessary - our instructors are there to help turn you into a DIY expert. Now that your beautiful farmhouse-inspired project is complete, you’ll take it home to find the perfect spot to display it!

Meet Board & Brush Monterey Owner
Jennifer Chapman
Jennifer Chapman has always enjoyed working on a project - whether it be searching for and repurposing treasures found, or cooking, baking, or gardening. She loved volunteering wherever her kids were in school, and now with two kids in college and one more finishing up high school, Jennifer has found a new adventure with Board & Brush!
Since first stepping foot in Board & Brush Walnut Creek a few years ago, she knew THAT was her next step - she loved everything about it! How it looked, the creativity of it, how she felt doing it…and she knew she would want to come back and do it again and again! As an Art Docent for many years, Jennifer knew that teaching hands-on workshops at Board & Brush was a perfect fit. Jennifer and her husband Tom are excited to take on owning the Monterey studio. Their other favorite things to do are watching their kids' activities, playing golf, or finding new paths to hike in beautiful Monterey County.

Board & Brush Monterey is located in the first block of Alvarado Street, across from Revival Ice Cream and next to TZone. Parking available nearby in parking garages, one on Calle Principal and the other on E. Franklin.
