Are you looking for a night out with friends? Is your inner DIY itching for a fun new project without having to buy all your own supplies and make a mess at your house? Then BOOK A WORKSHOP for the ultimate paint and sip experience at Board & Brush Creative Studio in Mystic.
Mystic is a shoreline village on the Mystic river located within the towns of Groton and Stonington. It is home to the Mystic Aquarium as well as the Mystic Seaport, which is the largest maritime museum in the nation. Mystic is also known for its cute downtown filled with boutiques and great restaurants as well as a drawbridge that goes up once an hour. Mystic Pizza isn’t just a Julia Roberts movie, the restaurant is located right downtown. There is always lots happening in Mystic; including the Mystic Irish Parade, the Pirate Invasion, the Holiday Stroll and the Lighted Boat Parade. Old Mistick Village is also a popular attraction with its many shops and restaurants. Close to many beaches and beautiful state parks, Mystic is a favorite destination year round.

SIP & PAINT AT OUR WOOD SIGN WORKSHOPS
At Board & Brush in Mystic, we marry the joy of wine and paint with the classic timelessness of wooden signs. Our instructor-led DIY wood sign workshops allow you to combine your creativity and willingness to learn new skills. We provide you with the instruction, materials and design for you to distress, sand, stain, paint, and customize your personalized piece of art!
HOW IT WORKS
1. REGISTER FOR A WORKSHOP
View our calendar above to find a date and time that works best for you and your friends and family (the more, the merrier!). You can also look for a workshop that features the type of project you’d like to create, like a PYP or specialty project. Then, you’ll browse our gallery of hundreds of designs to choose which one you’d like to create in your upcoming workshop!
2. ARRIVE EARLY!
Our workshops start on time, so you’ll want to arrive early to get settled! You can start thinking about the endless creative possibilities ahead, take photos with friends, and enjoy your favorite beverage (some studios are BYOB, while others sell alcohol, please check with your local studio about their policies).
3. GET YOUR DIY ON!
At your paint and sip workshop, you’ll turn raw wood into a finished project fit for your home! You’ll be guided by our expert instructors throughout each step in the workshop - sanding, distressing, staining, painting your stencil, and waxing! You choose all your colors in person at the workshop! Our workshops are typically about 3 hours long.
4. DISPLAY YOUR NEW DÉCOR
When you leave our workshops, you’ll leave with a wood project that you’ll be proud to display in your home! We mean it when we say that no experience is necessary - our instructors are there to help turn you into a DIY expert. Now that your beautiful farmhouse-inspired project is complete, you’ll take it home to find the perfect spot to display it!

Meet Board & Brush Mystic Owners
Scott & Lisa Selby
Prior to opening a Board & Brush, Scott spent his entire career in corporate Human Resources primarily focused on employee training, relations and team building. Over 10 years of his time was spent with Unilever. Lisa spent the last 15 years raising their two active boys. She was lucky enough to stay involved in supporting them through school and sporting activities. The stars aligned when Scott was ready for a change from the corporate world and Lisa was ready to get back to working outside of the home. The success of Board & Brush made it an easy choice for them to take a leap and start something new.
Scott & Lisa are high school sweethearts who have been married for 21 years. They are the proud parents of Benjamin and Zachary as well as Butter their yellow lab. They love spending time outdoors hiking and bike riding. Growing up in Ft. Wayne, IN they have lived in many different states over the years, currently residing in Trumbull.
Louise Johnson
Louise Johnson is the studio manager for the Mystic location. She was previously a business manager at Yale University. She later worked as a consultant and had her own catering and party planning business. Most recently she has been busy as a Community Coordinator. She is eager to manage the Mystic studio because she is passionate about creating and loves to decorate. She can’t wait to help people create customized pieces for their homes! She has been married to her husband Erik for 19 years and has four boys ages, 14, 13, 13 and 2!
