San Diego, CA features great weather, a variety of tourist attractions, and miles of beautiful sandy beaches. You’ll never be short on things to do in the area: With 17 miles of coastline, there are plenty of places for swimming, surfing, and walking on the beach. Plus, there are stunning golf courses like Torrey Pines & Balboa Park. Carmel Mountain Ranch is a neighborhood in San Diego conveniently located off the I-15 and 56 freeways centrally between the San Diego, Poway, Rancho Penasquitos, Rancho Bernardo, 4S Ranch, and Del Sur communities. The area is near many shops and restaurants like The Stand, Islands Restaurant, and the Fish District. You’ll also find large chain retailers like Costco and Home Depot nearby.
Board & Brush San Diego is a licensed establishment.
Beer and wine are available for purchase in the studio.
Please note, no one under 21 is allowed in the studio at any time.

SIP & PAINT AT OUR WOOD SIGN WORKSHOPS
At Board & Brush in San Diego, we marry the joy of wine and paint with the classic timelessness of wooden signs. Our instructor-led DIY wood sign workshops allow you to combine your creativity and willingness to learn new skills. We provide you with the instruction, materials and design for you to distress, sand, stain, paint, and customize your personalized piece of art!
HOW IT WORKS
1. REGISTER FOR A WORKSHOP
View our calendar above to find a date and time that works best for you and your friends and family (the more, the merrier!). You can also look for a workshop that features the type of project you’d like to create, like a PYP or specialty project. Then, you’ll browse our gallery of hundreds of designs to choose which one you’d like to create in your upcoming workshop!
2. ARRIVE EARLY!
Our workshops start on time, so you’ll want to arrive early to get settled! You can start thinking about the endless creative possibilities ahead, take photos with friends, and enjoy your favorite beverage (some studios are BYOB, while others sell alcohol, please check with your local studio about their policies).
3. GET YOUR DIY ON!
At your paint and sip workshop, you’ll turn raw wood into a finished project fit for your home! You’ll be guided by our expert instructors throughout each step in the workshop - sanding, distressing, staining, painting your stencil, and waxing! You choose all your colors in person at the workshop! Our workshops are typically about 3 hours long.
4. DISPLAY YOUR NEW DÉCOR
When you leave our workshops, you’ll leave with a wood project that you’ll be proud to display in your home! We mean it when we say that no experience is necessary - our instructors are there to help turn you into a DIY expert. Now that your beautiful farmhouse-inspired project is complete, you’ll take it home to find the perfect spot to display it!

Meet Board & Brush San Diego Owners
Gary & Jenn Valencia
Gary and Jenn Valencia knew right away after attending a workshop that their community would embrace the Board & Brush concept! The B&b business parallels their personal lives in so many ways - above the rewards from owning your business, Gary and Jenn love the process, the grind…the journey. They rely heavily on their experience and learning from a long list of DIY home improvement projects as well as countless hours of coaching youth sports and leading Girl Scout troops. With a full heart and a strong faith in God, they are bringing that positive energy and love of all things local to help their community gather again. Gary and Jenn have a full house of kiddos (Isabella, Gavin, and Kinley) and boxer dogs (Cooper and Rocco). Their family strives daily to be their best selves while serving their community through local volunteer opportunities. In her spare time, Jenn is often found surrounded by family or spoiling their dogs rotten. Jenn loves a glass of Sauvignon Blanc when it’s “San Diego hot” outside or a Pinot Noir when it is cold. Gary is often described as a selfless, energetic, growth mindset person who simplifies life by two things: good people and good food!
