Safety Harbor, FL is nestled on the west shore of Tampa Bay, less than 30 miles from Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater which makes it an easy drive from any direction. Sunrises at the Harbor are breathtaking, and the sunsets will stop you in your tracks! There isn’t a water sport that you won’t find in the area, and the Catch of the Day is always plentiful. Safety Harbor is host to many great outdoor events, including the 3rd Friday Music Series, Farmers Market on Main, and its annual Best Damn Race. The community prides itself on its selection of amazing local restaurants, sports bars, and breweries. Safety Harbor is the perfect place for an easy afternoon, or a night on the town.

SIP & PAINT AT OUR WOOD SIGN WORKSHOPS
At Board & Brush in Safety Harbor, we marry the joy of wine and paint with the classic timelessness of wooden signs. Our instructor-led DIY wood sign workshops allow you to combine your creativity and willingness to learn new skills. We provide you with the instruction, materials and design for you to distress, sand, stain, paint, and customize your personalized piece of art!
HOW IT WORKS
1. REGISTER FOR A WORKSHOP
View our calendar above to find a date and time that works best for you and your friends and family (the more, the merrier!). You can also look for a workshop that features the type of project you’d like to create, like a PYP or specialty project. Then, you’ll browse our gallery of hundreds of designs to choose which one you’d like to create in your upcoming workshop!
2. ARRIVE EARLY!
Our workshops start on time, so you’ll want to arrive early to get settled! You can start thinking about the endless creative possibilities ahead, take photos with friends, and enjoy your favorite beverage (some studios are BYOB, while others sell alcohol, please check with your local studio about their policies).
3. GET YOUR DIY ON!
At your paint and sip workshop, you’ll turn raw wood into a finished project fit for your home! You’ll be guided by our expert instructors throughout each step in the workshop - sanding, distressing, staining, painting your stencil, and waxing! You choose all your colors in person at the workshop! Our workshops are typically about 3 hours long.
4. DISPLAY YOUR NEW DÉCOR
When you leave our workshops, you’ll leave with a wood project that you’ll be proud to display in your home! We mean it when we say that no experience is necessary - our instructors are there to help turn you into a DIY expert. Now that your beautiful farmhouse-inspired project is complete, you’ll take it home to find the perfect spot to display it!

Meet Board & Brush Safety Harbor Owners
Randi & Doug Horton
Randi and Doug originally hail from the Boston area but made their home in Florida in 2010. They met while working in the financial services industry, and while Randi retired in 2023, Doug still works as an equity administrator. Owning a Board & Brush franchise is a foray into a whole new world full of sawdust, signs, and paint!
B&b is a true passion for Randi! She has been attending workshops for over 5 years and always looks forward to “Painting Day!” This has been her motto for any day she is fortunate enough to spend in the studio making pretty things. Randi jumped at the first mention of taking over the studio from the previous owners and sent Doug an email exclaiming “OMG!!!” within minutes of hearing about the opportunity.
For Randi and Doug, this is a crazy new adventure that they are grateful to share with their family. They are proud parents to two amazing and talented teenagers, Katie and Tuesday, and dog parents to Lilo and Luna. Randi’s parents can be seen at the studio cleaning, organizing, and building. They can’t wait to share their family’s passion and excitement with all their current and future friends. See you at the next Painting Day!
