Meet Board & Brush Erie Owners
Chris & Ann Thunell
Ann always dreamt of being an entrepreneur. She and her husband, Chris, met at Southern Illinois University Carbondale and married right out of school. Over the next few years, they moved from St. Louis, to Cleveland, to Toronto, and back to St. Louis for Chris’s corporate career. After a life changing event, they were ready to slow life down and raise their kids in Erie. They sold everything, moved to Erie in the middle of February 2015, and started their dream of entrepreneurship.
Ann was blessed to have been a stay at home mom with their four kids for fourteen years. During this time, she used her closet design background to design kitchens and spaces for friends and family. When they moved to Erie, she was able to tackle her dream of starting the Barn Door Design Company. Her first big job was the display pieces at The Woolen Mill in Meadville, PA, and she was also able create custom pieces for clients in their homes. While researching a “monogram wooden sign” for a client, she found Board & Brush and knew that was what she wanted to do – teach others to work with wood!
Ann and Chris have been married for twenty years and they have four amazing kids. They also have a German Shepherd, a black lab and live out in the country. They all love coming home and being together in between their many activities as a busy family.
