Somerville is a very walkable, quaint little town filled with delicious restaurants like Turf, Surf & Earth and Alfredo's. In town you'll also find Yestercades a retro arcade, comedy nights and a brewpub. Festivals and special events are scheduled almost every weekend. Parades, Girls night Out, Friday Cruise Night, Saturday concert Summer Stage and Thursday nights Starlit Cinema are ongoing events. Board & Brush Somerville is easily accessible from Rt. 22, Rt 78, Rt 287 and Rt.202/206 and NJ Transit.

SIP & PAINT AT OUR WOOD SIGN WORKSHOPS
At Board & Brush in Somerville, we marry the joy of wine and paint with the classic timelessness of wooden signs. Our instructor-led DIY wood sign workshops allow you to combine your creativity and willingness to learn new skills. We provide you with the instruction, materials and design for you to distress, sand, stain, paint, and customize your personalized piece of art!
HOW IT WORKS
1. REGISTER FOR A WORKSHOP
View our calendar above to find a date and time that works best for you and your friends and family (the more, the merrier!). You can also look for a workshop that features the type of project you’d like to create, like a PYP or specialty project. Then, you’ll browse our gallery of hundreds of designs to choose which one you’d like to create in your upcoming workshop!
2. ARRIVE EARLY!
Our workshops start on time, so you’ll want to arrive early to get settled! You can start thinking about the endless creative possibilities ahead, take photos with friends, and enjoy your favorite beverage (some studios are BYOB, while others sell alcohol, please check with your local studio about their policies).
3. GET YOUR DIY ON!
At your paint and sip workshop, you’ll turn raw wood into a finished project fit for your home! You’ll be guided by our expert instructors throughout each step in the workshop - sanding, distressing, staining, painting your stencil, and waxing! You choose all your colors in person at the workshop! Our workshops are typically about 3 hours long.
4. DISPLAY YOUR NEW DÉCOR
When you leave our workshops, you’ll leave with a wood project that you’ll be proud to display in your home! We mean it when we say that no experience is necessary - our instructors are there to help turn you into a DIY expert. Now that your beautiful farmhouse-inspired project is complete, you’ll take it home to find the perfect spot to display it!

Melissa Davia
Melissa is a passionate and creative business owner who is dedicated to fostering community connections through art and creative DIY projects. As the proud owner of Board & Brush Somerville, Melissa brings a wealth of innovative ideas and fresh energy to her studio. With a deep love for creativity, she enjoys hosting themed workshops, engaging events, and creating a welcoming environment for her customers!
Growing up in Bridgewater, New Jersey, Melissa developed a strong connection to her community, which she continues to nurture through her business. She has a serious love for all animals, big and small, and does rescue work for all kinds of animals in need. Outside of her professional life, Melissa is the proud caretaker of her 16-year-old rescue dog, Grace, and two cats. She loves to decorate and has an incurable addiction to home decorating stores—she jokes that the store’s staff know her by name. Melissa cherishes time spent with family and friends, as well as taking pottery classes, hiking, going to concerts, traveling, and, of course, catching up on sleep whenever she can! Melissa’s vibrant personality and commitment to making meaningful connections are evident in everything she does, both in and out of the studio.

Board & Brush Somerville is located on the pedestrian only Division Street about 150 yards from the Somerville Train Station. This area is filled with public cafe tables and has a funky artsy vibe, great place for a stroll and relaxing.
