Sun Prairie, WI is a great little town just 13 miles outside of Madison - the state capital and home of the University of WI-Madison, aka Home of the Badgers! It’s also the birthplace of Georgia O’Keefe and also referred to as the home of “Jimmy the Groundhog"! Sun Prairie is known for its excellent parks and recreation programs, its exceptional public school system, and its historic downtown. In the downtown area, you’ll find great restaurants like Eddies’ Alehouse & Eatery, Salvatore’s Tomato Pies, Full Mile Beer Company & Kitchen, plus breweries and wine bars like Right Bauer Brewing and Cannery Wine Bar and Tasting Room.

SIP & PAINT AT OUR WOOD SIGN WORKSHOPS
At Board & Brush in Sun Prairie, we marry the joy of wine and paint with the classic timelessness of wooden signs. Our instructor-led DIY wood sign workshops allow you to combine your creativity and willingness to learn new skills. We provide you with the instruction, materials and design for you to distress, sand, stain, paint, and customize your personalized piece of art!
HOW IT WORKS
1. REGISTER FOR A WORKSHOP
View our calendar above to find a date and time that works best for you and your friends and family (the more, the merrier!). You can also look for a workshop that features the type of project you’d like to create, like a PYP or specialty project. Then, you’ll browse our gallery of hundreds of designs to choose which one you’d like to create in your upcoming workshop!
2. ARRIVE EARLY!
Our workshops start on time, so you’ll want to arrive early to get settled! You can start thinking about the endless creative possibilities ahead, take photos with friends, and enjoy your favorite beverage (some studios are BYOB, while others sell alcohol, please check with your local studio about their policies).
3. GET YOUR DIY ON!
At your paint and sip workshop, you’ll turn raw wood into a finished project fit for your home! You’ll be guided by our expert instructors throughout each step in the workshop - sanding, distressing, staining, painting your stencil, and waxing! You choose all your colors in person at the workshop! Our workshops are typically about 3 hours long.
4. DISPLAY YOUR NEW DÉCOR
When you leave our workshops, you’ll leave with a wood project that you’ll be proud to display in your home! We mean it when we say that no experience is necessary - our instructors are there to help turn you into a DIY expert. Now that your beautiful farmhouse-inspired project is complete, you’ll take it home to find the perfect spot to display it!

Meet Board & Brush Sun Prairie Owners
Tara Parish & Dana Scott
Tara & Dana are sisters, lifelong creatives and the proud owners of Board & Brush Sun Prairie! They'd been talking about going into business together for years, so when the opportunity to take over the long-standing Board & Brush Sun Prairie studio came along, it felt like the perfect time to finally make it happen.
Growing up in a creative family, with a dad who was a woodworker, artist and painter and a mom who was always making something, creativity became a big part of both of their lives. Tara and Dana also each bring more than 16 years of experience as business owners, along with plenty of creative interests of their own. Tara enjoys sewing, crochet, art journaling, herbalism and making things from scratch, while Dana has a love for paint-by-number, diamond painting and other hands-on projects.
Tara and her husband have three kids whose interests include BMX racing and football. Dana has a son who inherited his mom's creative gene and enjoys making and creating in his own way.
At the studio, Tara and Dana are excited to carry on the tradition of this established Board & Brush location while bringing their own sisterly energy, creativity and ideas to the space. They love that Board & Brush is about more than making something. You get to spend time with people you enjoy, try something new, laugh a little and leave with something you made yourself.
